Under the guiding theme “We Celebrate Photography,” the German Photographic Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie e. V., DGPh) is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a year-long participatory program. The program began on April 18 with the Moment of Exposure photo campaign and continues with the open call Tomorrow Will Be Yesterday (submissions accepted until August 21, 2026, via picter.com). On September 19, curated works from all submissions will be presented in the Ballroom at Fotografiska Berlin—location and collaboration partner of the DGPh—on a large-format LED wall accompanied by live music, coinciding with the final weekend of the Anton Corbijn exhibition. The selection will be made by an international jury comprising Kathy Ryan, recipient of the 2025 Dr. Erich Salomon Award, Claire Ducresson-Boët, Wolfgang Zurborn, Thomas Gerwers, and Ralph Baiker.

Köln, 20. August 2026 – Unter dem Leitmotiv „We Celebrate Photography" begeht die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie e. V. (DGPh) ihr 75-jähriges Bestehen mit einem ganzjährigen, partizipativen Programm. Den Auftakt bildete am 18. April die Fotoaktion Moment of Exposure; fortgesetzt wird das Programm mit dem Open Call Tomorrow Will Be Yesterday (Einreichungen noch bis morgen, 21. August 2026 über über picter.com). Am 19. September werden bei Fotografiska Berlin – Location- und Kollaborationspartner der DGPh – im Ballroom kuratierte Arbeiten aus allen Einreichungen bei Live-Musik auf einer großformatigen LED-Wand präsentiert, zeitgleich mit dem letzten Wochenende der Anton-Corbijn-Ausstellung.
Am selben Tag beleuchtet das Symposium »Photobook 2026« an der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Unter den Linden von 10 bis 17 Uhr den aktuellen Stand und die Möglichkeiten des Mediums Fotobuch.

Am 24. Oktober 2026 feiert die DGPh die Kultur der Fotografie mit der Verleihung von vier ihrer renommierten Auszeichnungen im Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln (MAKK): dem Kulturpreis, dem Dr.-Erich-Salomon-Preis, der DGPh Manfred Heiting Medal of Curatorial Excellence in Photography und dem Otto-Steinert-Preis. DGPh-Förderpreis für Fotografie.

The German Photographic Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie, DGPh) is awarding the DGPh Manfred Heiting Medal of Curatorial Excellence in Photography 2026 to American curator Sarah Greenough and the National Gallery of Art. The award honors an internationally distinguished individual and institution who have jointly built a significant collection and made it accessible to a broad audience through research, exhibitions, and publications.
