EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD
Award of the DGPh Section Art, Market & Law
This year, for the first time, the Art, Market & Law Section of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie is offering the "EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD" to promote up-and-coming photographic artists. Beginning in November 2024, this biannual award will be announced and presented at Paris Photo.
The aim of the EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD is to support photographers as they enter the photographic art market.
Sponsored by Whitewall, the award is endowed with prize money of 3,000 euros. In addition to the grant prize winner, up to three other participants may be awarded an honorable mention recognition by the jury (not endowed).
NOMINATE NOW!
The DGPh Section Art, Market and Law invites representatives of the art market (gallery owners, collectors, art critics, lecturers, institutions, etc.) to nominate a promising new artist they represent.
A jury of renowned experts in the photographic art market will select the winner from these nominations.
Nominations are open to photo artists who - regardless of their age - have been present on the photo art market for no longer than three years and deserve attention.
Nominations are made on an online portal on the DGPh website (www.dgph.de). Five to ten photographic works by the nominated artist must be submitted, together with a short biography of the artist and a letter from the nominator with a brief synopsis of their recommendation.
The jury will be chaired by Thomas Gerwers, Chairman of the Art, Market and Law Section of the German Photographic Association, and in 2024 will consist of DGPh members including:
- Simone Klein (photography specialist and consultant)
- Celina Lunsford (Artistic Director Fotografie Forum Frankfurt)
- Ute Noll (gallery owner and curator)
- Sophie-Charlotte Opitz (curator and media scientist)
- Sebastian Lux (Curator F.C. Gundlach Foundation)
- Michael Biedowicz (DGPh Chair, gallery owner, curator, lecturer)
Please note that the closing date for entries is May 23, 2024, midnight (CET).
The documents can only be submitted only online via the online form on the DGPh website.
